The University of Florida school year has just begun and we’re incredibly excited to have a new, amazing group of residents. To kick off a great year at The Standard at Gainesville, we planned a calendar jam-packed with a variety of residence life events to give our residents and their friends the opportunity to meet and mingle with their neighbors and to enjoy spending time in our luxury amenities.
Week 1 – School Supply Bar
For our first resident event, we held a School Supply Bar in our leasing office. Starting off a new semester typically requires lots of new school supplies, so we provided notebooks, pens, pencils, highlighters, and other essentials for our residents. This event was definitely a hit, with nearly 100 residents coming by our leasing office to pick up some supplies before heading to class.
Week 2 – Wellness Wednesday Grab n’ Go Snack Bar
Week two we held a Wellness Wednesday Grab n’ Go Snack Bar in our leasing office. We know how tough it can be to fit in a healthy snacking schedule to stay full and energized during the semester with all the hard courses students take, so we provided several healthy snacks such as protein bars, fresh fruits, popcorn, individual peanut butter, and Sun Chips. Approximately 75 students stopped by and grabbed a couple snacks while picking up a package, heading out for class, or coming back home after a long school day.
Week 3 – Cookie Bar
During our third week of resident events, we held a cookie bar in our leasing office. Here at The Standard, we love Insomnia Cookies so much that we wanted to share some of their amazing sweets with our residents! The Standard partnered with Insomnia Cookies to provide residents with 150 individually wrapped cookies of different flavors such as chocolate chip, fudge, sugar, and snickerdoodle. This event was definitely a hit, and all cookies were gone in just about 45 minutes.
Week 4 – Package Delivery
For our fourth resident event, we did a package delivery! We know that moving into a new apartment always requires ordering lots of new décor and household essentials, and in today’s society, most of this is done via online shopping. In efforts to interact with new residents and provide unrivaled service, our Community Ambassadors went door to door delivering packages. This event is definitely a fan favorite, as it allowed residents to interact with CA’s, and simplified package pick up.
Week 5 – Free Pizza Friday
Week five, we held “Free Pizza Friday” in our leasing office. The Standard Gainesville partnered with Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza, a popular Italian restaurant located right across the street from us! They provided 8 giant-sized pizzas, both cheese and pepperoni, and the 40 residents who were able to snag a slice absolutely loved it! The pizza was so popular and delicious that it only lasted about 30 minutes before it was all gone.
Week 6 – Flapjack Friday
Our very last week of our 6 in 6 events, we held “Flapjack Friday” in our leasing office. Our Resident Services Manager, Stephanie, and Associate Community Manager, Emily, whipped up an amazing variety of fresh pancakes. We organized a grab and go style pancake bar, with plain, blueberry, chocolate chip, pumpkin spice, and Kodiak protein pancakes. We also provided individual syrups and butter to top them off! This event definitely brought a smile to the faces of many of our residents, as it was held at 11 AM, and who doesn’t love some brunch on a Friday! We loved serving fresh pancakes and interacting with the 30 residents who attended the event all while actively promoting our renewal campaign.
Our team has had such an amazing time getting to meet our residents over the past 6 weeks. Here at The Standard at Gainesville, we strive to create the best experience in University of Florida off campus housing and hosting a variety of awesome resident events is just one part of achieving that.
